Your Solar Journey
Your Solar Project Journey, From First Call to Activation
A Step-by-Step Process Designed for Clarity, Confidence, and Long-Term Performance
1. Getting Started: Discovery
Typical Timeframe: 1 day
You’ll meet with a Solar Expert who will learn about your goals, the property, and energy usage and expectations. We’ll collect basic info like:
- The address for the project and a recent electric bill
- Your budget and timeline
- Why you’re going solar
2. Design & Initial Proposal
Typical Timeframe: 2 weeks
You’ll receive a proposal with a high-level overview of:
- Potential financial returns
- Expected cost + estimated savings
- A system layout
- Equipment details
- Financing considerations
3. Site Visit
Typical Timeframe: 2 weeks
We will come out to visit the property to collect details and additional information in order to create a final proposal.
4. Final Proposal + Contract
Typical Timeframe: 1 - 6 months
We’ll review the proposal, timeline, ownership, structure, financial options and finalize all aspects of the project. While we are not tax professionals, we use our experience and knowledge to do a full review of tax incentives and solar incentive requirements, and determine the timeline to realize potential financial returns.
5. Communication + Onboarding
Typical Timeframe: 1 day
During onboarding, we’ll ask how you prefer to stay in touch to ensure communication is seamless.
- Project Kickoff Meeting: You’ll be introduced to your project manager and support team
- You’ll receive regular updates from your project manager - frequency can be determined by your needs
- Real-time notification of changes/updates is available and tracked
6. Development Phase
Typical Timeframe: 6 - 24 months
We will work together to derisk the project and remove any potential roadblocks.
- Utility Interconnection Application
- Incentive Application
- Engineering - structural and electrical
- Incentive approval - making sure your paperwork is filed and accepted
- Permitting and utility paperwork
- Equipment procurement
If needed, we’ll guide you through site prep like roof work and electrical updates.
If your property is under construction, we’ll wait until you’re ready to begin installation.
7. Preconstruction
Typical Timeframe: 1 - 4 months
Once development is complete, we will schedule a preconstruction meeting with you and your on-site team. This is where we will do a full walkthrough of all that is going to happen, including:
- Material and equipment delivery
- Review noise requirements, safety, and mobilization areas
- Review schedule
You’ll also be given your main point of contact, as well as an introduction to the foreman and site manager.
8. Installation & Activation
Typical Timeframe: 3 - 12 months
Our licensed team installs your system safely and efficiently.
Once the system is in place, we will then receive utility permission to operate. And your system will then be turned on. Final utility approval may take 2-3 months for the utility to confirm. Once we have final confirmation, we will be cleared to turn it on and show you how everything works.
9. Wrap-Up & Support
Typical Timeframe: 1 month
You’ll receive a New Owner’s Packet with:
- All project paperwork
- Monitoring login and walkthrough
